The Great Escape on the Coldest Day of the Year!

Today started at 21 degrees, the city frozen, and windchill in the single digits and one tired mama from getting up at least 3 times last night. Little did I know the Great Escape would be today! It is one that I think every parents dreads, pretends it won't happen to them, or just prefers to live in denial, but today I got to experience it!
I was sitting down, after my "angels" went down for nap, when all of a sudden a door flew open, and one VERY happy little girl came bouncing down the hall, clapping & yelling "yeah!". JuJu was beyond proud of herself. It took me a minute to realize, "oh, dear God, my last bit of sanity is now gone! They can get out of the crib!"! AHAHAHAH!

So, I firmly told her no, put her back to bed, only to turn around to have her by my side again! This was repeated ALOT. I finally gave up, got a book (and camera) and tried to read to them to see if I could get her to stay in. Fatigue finally took over and they took a nap. I have already sent my S.O.S. to all of my multiple MOMs. Beau will be assembling crib tents tonight.
Here is little Miss Sunshine in action!

I will admit that it took everything in me not to clap for her or to not laugh! She is so proud of herself and this is one thing she will always get to claim she is first at! Can you tell all those hours of PT & Little Gym have paid off!

Life's Little Pleasures

A sunday afternoon with Daddy & his "toys". The girls got to learn what white pine is & how to push the button to make the drill go. (all under VERY close supervision!!!)
Getting to play with your food.

Doing tricks with your food and watching it turn everything red.

Having lunch with some of your most favorite people! We met Ms. Emily out with 2 of the triplets she use to nanny for. The girls had a blast! It was 8 of us cruising the mall, playing, and eating. It was a very fun Monday morning.

Of course, we had to get Starbucks in! It was cold and they were the only ones open before 10am.

Here is a group shot of our fun. Everyone got a drink & snack.

River decided she was going to be a "Big Girl" all day and had to sit with Claire & Finley. They were so sweet with her.
And what would a day of shopping be without going to the shoe store?

This was all from last week. I got the pure pleasure of getting away for 48hrs and see old
friends & play with my Mom! We got to work on her website & Pottery. You can see her blog HERE. She named her pottery MISO which is a huge honor to me. Mi (Misty) & So (Sony). I can only hope to be as inspiring & as fun a mom as mine is!

Wednesday Afternoon!

Skye's reaction when she heard about all of her quad buddies who aren't feeling so well. She is becoming so sensitive to things.
This face is also because her bed was a mess and when I went to change the sheets, I got ALOT of assistance & the side rail came off.
Well,........

Party at Skye's crib! And boy did they!
When you see this expression, it usually means be prepared! Either something just happened, or it is about too! (also could explain Skye's expression)
River & JuJu had fun climbing the rail. There was a battle to see who could get to the top. You can guess who won!

Please continue to keep all those listed in the previous post in your prayers. I am sure there are many out their right now even without multiples who are dealing with alot of illness & rough days, and I will keep you in my prayers too!

HUGE PRAYER REQUESTS!!!!!!

UPDATE: Ok, need to ask for a few more to be added. Casey Gerwer has been admitted to the hospital for pneumonia, the flu, a sinus infection, etc. She is resting ok and receiving IV fluids, but her whole crew has the flu right now (complete with 103 degree fevers...fun) and they need their momma to get well really soon. Please keep her and her beautiful family in your thoughts. Also the Tubre Quads are also not feeling well. Tyger was admitted to the hospital with respitory issues and they are checking for RSV. His 3 siblings are also fighting the cold/virus thing also. I know Jac & Torey are tired and worried, so please add them to your prayers also. I truely hope I haven't missed anyone and that everyone else in Blogland is ok! It has been such a nasty cold season this year!

I would ask that you please pray for several of the quad moms out there.

Jenna had her quads at 25 weeks at the end of December. Yesterday two of them had surgery for PDA's and are recovery and doing well. However, Preston, one of the boys, has come down with a MRSA infection. I have written on this some with JuJu as that is what lead to so many of the things she has had to overcome. Right now he is in kidney failure and could use ALL of the prayers you can send. I'm sure Jenna & her hubby could use quite a few too. Click here for their blog: trevorjennaeva.blogspot.com

Also prayers for Lauren who is 17weeks pregnant with quads and was rushed to the ER yesterday. Baby a's sack is leaking and they are hoping for it to repair itself & hopefully not lead to premature delivery. Remember 24weeks is the earliest for viabilty and the best chance for survival. Click here for Lauren's blog and here for her husband's blog

Also is the Gerwer Quads and the Goerlich Quads, specifically Sophia, have all been sick. The Gerwer quad babies & their MOM Casey all have the flu really bad! You can image what 4- 1 year olds, sick and only wanting mama can be like when you aren't feeling well yourself! I hope ya'll fell better soon! And for Sophia Goerlich, who was diagnosed with pneumonia that she feel better soon!

And last, but not least, is prayers for Amy Jo . She is 27.5 weeks and doing really well. The three survivng quads are continue to thrive in utero. Though, I know Amy Jo is starting to get really uncomfortable and could use some prayers & positive energy sent her way. I have told her she has to go past my measly 30weeks! GO AJ!

The Girls and I will be hanging out here with our Power animals, praying for each and everyone of ya'll!

Inauguration Day

a>
In celebration of our new President, the girls put on a new dress and watch the event on tv. I was actually amazed that they watch part of it, but mostly that they let me watch some of it! Not once was an Elmo or Signing Times request uttered! Maybe change really is on its way.

The party pics!

Here are the party pics of the girls at their first birthday party invite. They had so much fun & the venue where it was held was sooooo perfect for all of the 2 year olds!

If the previous post was confusing, I'm sorry! The "WHAT IS IT?" was our new Lazy Susan. It is so perfect and we are really excited about it. I promise Mom that it won't always be used as a riding toy, but I think we do need to get a sit & spin.

What is it????

The other day we had a huge, strange, VERY heavy box arrive. We waited for Beau to come home from work to undoe the packaging & to move it. Needless to say, it was nothing that I would ever have imagined, and yet the MOST perfect thing for a large family! I think the video clip says it all:

I can't wait to start having family dinners around this! We are so greatful for this generous gift. Thank you!!!!
EDIT: The "what is it" is the Large Lazy Susan! It is 30in in diameter and will be perfect for putting things on & spinning it around for everyone to get my amazing cooking! (ok, mac & cheese out of the box counts!)

Stayed tuned! The girls went to their first birthday party. They had a blast getting all ready in their party dresses. Ms. Emily even shared some lip gloss with the girls since there would be boys at the party! I mean, a girl's gotta look good, right? And by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY PRESTON & LANDRY!!!!!!

And yesterday was the Gerwer Quads Birthday! Congratulations on being one!

Introducing MISO Pottery

My mom, who is one of the most creative and amazing people I know, has now entered into the blogging world! Go NONI!!!!! Her blog/new adventure, Sony's World of Mud & Yarn is going to showcase new work, let people know where her work can be seen or purchased, what she's doing, with the clay, yarn, wood and fibers and where she hopes to go with all of this. She is amazingly gifted and talented and much of her work is now in galleries throughout Texas & Louisiana and in yarn stores like Yarntopia in Katy, TX. It has been so much fun watching and being a part of this journey with her. I was with her when she bought her first potter's wheel & sat in one of her first knitting classes. I guess after teaching me, everyone else has been a piece of cake! (She had to take pain pills to teach me!!!! She says it was because she just broke her ankle, but I'm not so sure). Since then she teaches all the time & if she isn't teaching, she's painting or throwing. I can only hope I can share some of the love of the creative arts with my girls that my mom has shared with me! And I can't wait to see Noni teach my girls to knit & make their own horse hair or Raku piece of pottery.
You can also see alot of her work at her website Misopottery.com . AND if you are in the Dallas area, we will be at the DFW Fiber Festival with a booth in late April. Wish us luck that we sell lots & lots!!!!
Here is Skye modeling Noni's Shrug. If you got one of Christmas cards, you got to see all of the girls in the shrugs she knitted & designed for them.
One of her "artsy" pieces as my dad calls it. This is one of her Raku fired pieces.

And here is one of her "practical" pieces (on one of her knitted shawls). I LOVE the coffee cups, because of them being hand thrown, when you put them in the microwave the coffee gets hot & not the cup! You can actually hold the cup! I love that since I seem to have to re-heat my coffee a million times these days!

Then & Now

Here is one of our favorite pictures of all four of the girls when they were really little.

And two years later........

I couldn't believe when they all sat on the couch today with their blankets. Needless to say I had to take a picture and compare it to the other one. They have gotten so big!

A High-Five for JuJu!

JuJu had her annual assessment for ECI yesterday & hearing tests today. We are beyond thrilled at her progress, but to have it validated and in writing is so awesome!
Here are the results from the assessment & the progress since last year:

Yesterday 1-8-09 at the age of 25 months
She scored:
Communication- 21 months ( 11 months progress)
Self-help- 26 months ( one month advanced)
Physical - 22 months (13 months of progress)
Cognition- 22 months ( 10 months of progress)
Social- 26 months ( one month advanced)

And on her hearing test, she responded to as low as 15decibels (WITHOUT the hearing aides) and that is considered within the normal range! So we may be getting rid of those for good (Oh, I hope!)

So THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU for all of you who have prayed, followed, and offered your support.
And HUGE, HUGE THANK YOU'S to ALL of her therapists! You are such a huge part of her success!

We took the girls today to Pee Wee's Picasso. It was so wonderful & the girls just LOVED it! They did so well and I'm so proud of them. Hope this little montage will brighten your day as much as it did mine!

Happy New Year!

I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! 2008 was a great year and we hope that 2009 will be more of the same (though Beau did say something about a budget last night!?!?!?) Again, I want to thank everyone so much for all of the nice comments on the blog & from out Christmas cards this year. I know I missed a few people, but our address book was having some techinical difficulties.

I do want to wish LSU & TEXAS congratulations on their bowl wins! The girls even got in the spirit with wearing their new TEXAS cheer outfits. The Urech Cheer Squad getting prepared for the big game!
Hook 'em HORNS! GO Texas!
Don't worry, they were still cheering Geaux Tigers too!
I have some great pics from them playing yesterday in this, so watch for a slideshow.
THis is actually how we spent the first couple of days of the New Year~ snotty noses & lots of coughing! This is the first year we aren't "quarantining" the girls during RSV season so we have had a few more colds. Luckily we have been fortunate in not getting RSV, but we still are avoiding the major germ places!
River taking it very easy. Poor thing was so stuffy and not feeling good that day. The girls are pretty much over it now & it seemed to be minor. As my Grandma would say, it was just the "meanness" coming out!
Yes, we have streakers! This is our new daily thing! We strip to nothing, throw our diaper over the baby gate & then runaround like crazy-babies! THe LOVE IT! I swear if they could be naked all day they would, especially Skye & JuJu (big shock I know!). So here they are trailing after Beau to get clothes. They have decided if they get undressed then they have to get new clothes. Well all of their clothes are in the guest room which they LOVE. They like it because of the bed which is their favorite thing to jump on. However, the other day someone decided to "spring a leak" and the bed is now in time-out. HA!
Oops, they are awake! More later, Mist
